Hale Akua Garden Farm – Hawaiian Organic Farm and Permaculture Site

Sunrise Center, the entity that manages Hale Akua Garden Farm, is considering offering classes in permaculture and organic farming on the beautiful island of Maui, at our sites in Huelo. Sunrise Center leases both Hale Akua Garden Farm and Pali Uli Gardens, which is within Hale Akua Garden Farm. Both properties are being farmed under the direction of Hale Akua Garden Farm. which is a certified organic farm. We hope to offer classes to both local students and students coming from afar.

Michael Shiva D’Addario and Lori Grace, the owners of Hale Akua Garden Farm, are happy about their partnership with Sunrise Center. We hope to offer a variety of afternoon, one-day and weekend programs in organic farming along with our existing farm tours. Both Hale Akua and Pali Uli Gardens are part of Hale Akua Garden Farm, which has been a certified organic farm since 2007.

We’re excited about our Woofer Residence Program It is possible for you to learn about organic farming and sustainable living by living at Hale Akua Garden Farm for up to six months. If you are interested, please apply directly to Hale Akua Garden Farm’s WWOOFer Program. As a WWOOFer (Willing Workers On Organic Farms), you will learn organic farming by working on the farm for five to six hours per day and by taking our afternoon or evening classes in farming and other topics.

If you are a teacher, or represent a school that would like to use our campus to conduct classes in organic agriculture, and you would like to apply for this program, please call Michael Shiva D’Addario at (808) 572-9300 or e-mail him. For biographies of various teachers who will be teaching with us, please see the Hale Akua Garden Farm Instructors‘ page.

We look forward to hearing from you and to creating a greener world with better food and better topsoil.  Here’s also to no pesticides, both in our bodies and on the ground.
